This is a great questions......I wonder what your thoughts are?
Using social media to market a business is very different from face to face or written marketing processes, especially in the helping professions.
If you are already using social media platforms or are considering using them keep the following thoughts in mind:
Make sure your personal profiles are private (keep checking settings as platforms can change their settings and layouts without us realising)
On business profiles only post about yourself around what you offer as value through your practice.
Think carefully before you post, once it is on the internet it can be seen by everyone.
Never share information about clients in private groups, public pages etc. It can be very easy to identify individuals online
Create a social media policy and share it with clients. This can be added as a link to your website so it is very clear to potential clients.
Social media can be a time swamp, so remember to practice good self care and set time limits.
You may have already considered all of the above or just some of the points. However it is a good reminder as technology is changing fast! Why not use these tools as a way to share your value with the world......but use them wisely and ethically.
Does it feel a bit scary? Don't let that put you off! Social media is a great place to promote, market and tell your story about what you do and why you do it. You have so much to offer and your client or colleague may be just on the other end of the phone ready to get in touch.
"I don't event know where to start!"
